Shri P. Sivakumar, IFS, Member Secretary & Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Central Silk Board (CSB), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, Bengaluru visited NESAC on February 08, 2024. He was accompanied by Dr. Kartik Neog, Director, Muga Eri Silkworm Seed Organization (MESSO), CSB, Guwahati, Shri Nagesh, S., Assistant Secretary (Tech.), RO, CSB HQs and Shri R. Wankhar, Deputy Director of Sericulture, Govt. of Meghalaya.
Dr. S.P. Aggarwal, Director, NESAC welcomed the Member Secretary with a GSLV Brush Model and a Khasi traditional stole. Dr. B.K. Handique, Head, Agriculture & Soil Division (ASD) made a detailed presentation on the projects funded by CSB to NESAC. Shri P. S. Singh, Scientist ‘SF’, GeoInformatics & Information Technology Division (GID) demonstrated the SILKS (Sericulture Information Linkages & Knowledge System) geo-portal developed by NESAC with the financial assistance from CSB. Dr. Jonali Goswami, Scientist ‘SF’, Dr. Chandan Goswami, Scientist ‘SF’ and Dr. Francis Dutta, Scientist ‘SC’ from ASD also interacted with the Member Secretary.
In his closing remarks, Shri P. Sivakumar has expressed his satisfaction over the supports provided by NESAC to the flagship programmes of CSB. He requested NESAC to continue the support in evaluation of the execution of the SILK Samagra-2 programme of CSB. He has also requested NESAC to organize a two weeks customized training programme for the newly recruited scientists of CSB at NESAC.
