ISRO’s Tele-Education program is operational in the North Eastern Region since 2004 and currently all the eight states of North Eastern region, namely Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, Nagaland and Manipur are having their own Tele-Education networks. The newly installed Manipur Tele-Education network comprising of 25 Satellite Interactive Terminals (SITs) was commissioned and inaugurated on 26th October, 2018 by the Hon’ble Minister of Education, Manipur, Shri. Th. Radheshyam Singh. State Council of Educational Research & Training(SCERT), Manipur is identified as the Nodal Agency for utilization of the Tele-Education network in the state. Mr. Himangshujyoti Das, Research Scientist was present for technical assistance in the program. DECU, ISRO provided remote assistance. SCERT, Manipur organised the inauguration function of the newly installed network at SCERT Edusat Hall.
The program started with a brief speech from Shri Th. Radheshyam Singh, Minister of Education Manipur. He stated that implementation of Tele-education network in Manipur will set a new milestone in education of the state. Later he formally launched the network by inaugurating the Teaching End Studio. The Hon’ble Minister also interacted with a number of remote SITs.
Senior Officials of SCERT, Manipur including Dr. M. Meenakumari Devi, Director, SCERT Manipur were present in the program. The Inaugural meeting was also broadcasted live to all the SITs in the network on that day. The program was concluded with the closing remarks and vote of thanks by Shri Kh. Ashokkumar, Edusat Coordinator/ Project officer.
