One week short course on “Development of Geospatial Dashboard & Mobile Applications and Geo-Web Analytical Tools” was conducted during 17–21 July, 2023 at NESAC Outreach Facility. The programme was conducted by Geo-informatics and IT Division (GID) of NESAC. The course was attended by 18 participants from government departments and academia coming from different parts of India.
The inaugural programme started with the opening remarks by Dr Dibyajyoti Chutia, Head, GID, followed by introduction from the participants. Shri PS Singh, Course Director gave a brief overview of the course. He highlighted different modules of the course that comprises of 13 hours of lectures and equivalent hours of hands-on practical exercises. Dr. S.P. Aggarwal, Director, NESAC welcomed all the participants and gave detail insights of the course and how one must use geospatial technology in governance process. The inaugural program was concluded with a vote of thanks offered by Shri Nilay Nishant, Course Officer.
The course was designed to provide a thorough understanding of the basic GIS operations with Open Source, ability to publishing and manage the geospatial database, collection of data using Geotagging Mobile App and finally the use of geospatial dashboards to aid in decision making process.
The course concluded with valedictory program which was held on July 21, 2023. Shri PS Singh, Course Director welcomed all the participants and appreciated all the participants for their dedication and active engagement during the course. He then gave detailed account of lectures conducted during 5 days course. Dr. S.P. Aggarwal, Director, NESAC addressed the participants, inspired and encouraged all to use these powerful technologies for their developmental planning and governance. All the scientists and staffs from GID attended the valedictory session. The program was concluded with a vote of thanks offered by Shri Nilay Nishant, Course Officer.
