The 11th meeting of NESAC Society was held on 19th Jan, 2024 at Meghalaya State Convention Centre, Shillog under the Chairmanship of Shri Amit Shah Ji, Hon’ble Union Home and Cooperation Minister and the President of NESAC Society. The meeting was attended by all the distinguished members of NESAC Society. Meeting was also attended by Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Union Minister of DONER and Chief Ministers of NE states. Senior officials from Union Home, Road, Railways and DONER Ministries attended the meeting as Special Invitees.
Shri S. Somanath, Secretary, Department of Space and the Vice President of NESAC Society welcomed all the distinguished members and special invitees to the 11th meeting of the NESAC Society. Dr. S.P. Aggarwal, Director, NESAC and the Secretary of the Society presented the Action Taken Report, achievements and status of projects and activities taken up since the 10th meeting of the Society. He also presented the Annual Reports and Audited Statement of Accounts for the approval of the Society.
In his remarks, Hon’ble Union Home Minister and the President of NESAC Society congratulated ISRO for success of Chandrayaan-3 and Aditya-L1 missions. He lauded the activities carried out by NESAC addressing the challenges of the region. He also mentioned that NESAC has assisted in providing better transportation network for rail or road using satellite based topographic maps. He stressed that NESAC should work for providing good governance to the last mile citizens using space technology and provide better administrative support.
Hon’ble Chief Ministers from the NE states offered their views on space technology applications being carried out and the additional requirements for their respective states. They also spoke about the status of projects taken up as part of the Plan of Action on the utilization of space technology by various user departments in NE states.
