A custom-made one-week short course titled “Basics of Geographic Information Systems and UAV Remote Sensing for Army Officials of Umroi Cantt” was organized during March 4th – 8th, 2024, at the NESAC Outreach Facility, Umiam. The course was attended by13 officials of Indian army posted in Umroi Cantt.
During the course, 8 theory classes and 5 practical sessions were conducted. The topics were chosen as per the requirements of the officials of Indian army covering a range of topics from remote sensing and GIS fundamentals to advanced techniques, UAV flight planning and data processing etc.
The valedictory programme held on March 8th, 2024 was graced by Dr. S. P. Aggarwal, Director, NESAC. The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Dibyajyoti Chutia. Head, GID and Shri P.S Singh, Scientist-SF, GID.Shri. Victor Saikhom (Course Director) provided a summary of the course followed by a vote of thanks offered by Shri. Nilay Nishant (Course Officer).
