NESAC conducted one week capacity building programme on Geo-Spatial Technologies & Applications (GSTA) during November 21-25, 2023 organized jointly by ISRO and Capacity Building Commission (CBC) simultaneously at two locations, namely Regional Remote Sensing Centre (RRSC) North, New Delhi and North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Umiam. The program was inaugurated virtually by Hon’ble Minister of State (I/C), Ministry of Science and Technology, Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh in presence of Secretary DOS, Chairman ISRO Sri S. Somanath and Sri Adil Zainulbhai, Chairman Capacity Building Commission, 21 participants from all over India representing13 departments have participated in the training. The training programme has been coupled with lectures and hands-on exercises to ensure that the officials not only comprehend theoretical concepts but also gain practical expertise that can be directly applied to their work. This course content was designed to enhance their knowledge and skills in utilizing geospatial technologies for a variety of applications in their respective domains of activities. Mr Harish Chandra Choudhary, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Government of Meghalaya delivered an expert talk and shared success stories on the use of geospatial technology to the participants.
On 25th Nov 2023, the valedictory program was organized, where Prof D P Goyal, Director, Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Shillong graced the occasion as the chief guest. During valedictory session, summery report was presented by Dr Jonali Goswami, Program Coordinator, O&CB, NESAC followed by feedback from participants and distribution of certificates. The program ended with vote of thanks by Dr Francis Dutta, Scientist, NESAC on behalf of the organizing committee of GSTA at NESAC.
